I've been practising my digital painting with my Wacom tablet and different brush strokes, using a combination of digital painting tutorial's by Jaguarwoman.com and Linda Bergkvist http://www.furiae.com/index.php?view=gallery . I really liked the porcelaine skin that Linda does and followed her tutorial alot in these efforts below. I do need to work more on this technique but I'm quite happy with the results of the repainting I did to the Edwardian Lady of Auguste Toulmouche, original above. Who better to practise my technique on than a great master's work?. Being digital I just had to try different coloured dresses and loved how pretty they all looked. I've put them on printable sheets with luscious roses by Jaguarwoman and Clohie Watkins for making cards and crafting needs. They are available in the Shoppe in the Printable section. I would love to share in depth how I do these digital paintings, I have been asked quite alot to provide tutorials in how I do these, I'm sorry I really don't feel I am qualified or patient enough to be a teacher, most of what I do is really by accident in photoshop or looking up wonderful tutorials myself, most of which are freely available in searches and I have links I regularily add to my forum or down the side of this blog. I'd only be going over what's already out there for free. Youtube.com is another great resource for tutorials in digital painting, also a link down the side for that. Mostly you will need alot of creative time and patience, it's not easy to just follow a tutorial and for what you see in your mind to appear on your digital canvas, I made loads of digital mistakes in this particular repainting, but persistence I think is the key. I'm hoping with time I can become quicker and more experienced like the great Masters who influence my creative streak. I often wonder if the great masters of old had of used tools like computers and digital painting what would they have been able to achieve? One day I hope to do more of my own unique pieces of art , for now I love revamping and calling attention to some of what I consider to be paintings that just capture my mind to take it away to a time of romantic whimsy and when I can I love to include these pieces in my scrapbook pages so my family can have that rich appreciation of art and a feeling of the beautiful history I have. I do hope you enjoy my renditions below.
Our new challenge for June will be the theme "Graduation".
More Information on how to receive this mini kit for free in the upcoming newsletter and yahoogroup mail from Deb after the 1st of June!
I made this above page using the challenge mini kit of my oldest son Connal at his Presentation Ball with Great Nan. The Presentation Ball is a Debutante Ball for young girls(Debutantes) and gentlemen to be introduced into society, it's a coming of age and coming out ball. Very traditional with preceeding dance classes for months leading upto the Ball and rehearsals. Formal atire worn, my son and all the boys wore suits with tails and the lovely young ladies all wore beautiful white gowns with satin long gloves upto their elbows. My sons partner Angelica had a lovely coifured hair do, and looked stunning. Connal led her down the length of the dance floor so calmly to be presented to society, he said he was knee knocking nervous but he looked the picture of calm to me I sobbed with pride. Because of my condition at present I couldn't get up and dance with my wonderful boy I would have loved to I really would have, but I enjoyed watching my Nan dance with Connal, my Nan is a ball room dancer and goes dancing most nights with her boyfriend John, so when she said Connal danced beautifully he breathed a sigh of relief he was so worried he'd stuff up. This blog has been a little neglected as I have been getting ready for this ball and then the following week we moved house and my ISP had to be changed as I couldn't get the same connection in this location. Getting back on the net took alot longer than I anticipated as well. Now I'm suffering from my second virus in 4weeks and that's taking it's toll on me. Please bare with me while I get used to a new area and new schools for my kids and forgive me for not offering a quickpage exchange this month as I've had way too many tasks needing my attention this month to be able to run that fun exchange. I want to give a "Huge thank-you" to Donna who ran the quickpage exchange for last year and did an incredibly wonderful job of it, Lara and I will literally be lost without her around here, but wish her all the best in her future endeavours! Thank-you sweetheart! ![]()
Debi will be taking on the June quickpage exchange and if she finds she has the time needed will continue on with it from there. But if this is something that you think might interest you to do,and you have plenty of time, Lara and I would love to hear from you ![]()
I hope I can do a few more matching pages of the Debutante Presentation Ball if I get the time to, I've ordered the formal photos and am waiting on those to arrive, I had to rely on my DH to take photos using my camera and he was still getting used to the settings and I had a few turn out okay but some were blurry unfortunately. Thank's for dropping by today and catching up with me ![]()
